A family business, still in the same building
Whitfield & Sons was founded in 1978 by James Whitfield, who believed that local families deserved a funeral director who would treat them as neighbours rather than customers. Today we are still family-run, still based in the original premises on Aston High Street, and still answering the phone ourselves at any hour. Our team holds full membership of the National Association of Funeral Directors and we follow the CMA's standards for clear, transparent pricing.

Meet the team
Margaret Whitfield
Funeral Director & Owner
Margaret has cared for Aston families for over 30 years and took over the business from her father in 2008. She personally oversees every arrangement and is on call day and night.
David Whitfield
Funeral Director
David joined the family business in 2005. A qualified funeral director with the B.I.F.D (British Institute of Funeral Directors), he leads our team of bearers and looks after most of our church and crematorium services.
Sarah Patel
Funeral Arranger
Sarah is often the first person you'll meet when you visit us. She helps families plan every detail, from music and readings to flowers and orders of service.

Member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD)
Members work to a published code of practice and are inspected by the NAFD. Independent backstop arrangements are in place to protect any funeral in our care.

Our embalming care is carried out to BIE standards by qualified members, with strict hygiene, dignity and professional ethics throughout.
