Planning ahead

Pre-arranging a funeral

Planning ahead simply means taking a little time now to think about your wishes, so that things are clearer and calmer for those you love later on.

There is no right or wrong time to think about the future. Some people find comfort in noting down their preferences; others simply want to ask a few questions. Whatever brings you here, we're glad to help, gently and at your own pace.

You are welcome to record as much or as little as you wish, and nothing is ever set in stone. We're always happy to talk things through with no obligation whatsoever.

Why people plan ahead

  • Peace of mind

Knowing your wishes are noted can bring a quiet reassurance, both for you and for those close to you.

  • Record personal wishes

From music and readings to the smaller details, you can set down what matters most to you.

  • Less pressure on family

Making your preferences known in advance spares loved ones difficult decisions at an emotional time.

  • Greater clarity

Talking things through in advance brings clarity around the arrangements and any associated costs.

Ways we can help

It helps to know what you're looking for. These are three different things, and we'll always be clear about which one we're discussing:

Recording your funeral wishes
Noting your preferences so they're on file. This is not a financial product.
Requesting information
Asking questions about planning ahead, with no obligation to proceed.
Purchasing a regulated funeral plan
Pre-paid funeral plans are financial products regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Whitfield & Sons does not currently sell regulated funeral plans, but we're very happy to help you record your wishes or point you in the right direction.
